Whether setting out to improve an existing brand or part of an existing business or launching a new venture within a company, starting with a strong level of clarity of where we’re aiming is important in setting expectations for ourselves, our team, sponsors and those we’re ultimately accountable to. Simple enough, right?
When starting something new, excitement and energy are high and everyone is ready to act. One of the easiest ways to kill momentum is to quickly get too far down the wrong path only to find ourselves confused, cautious and demotivated. Here are a few ideas for starting with clarity:
- Take the time to hold a kick-off meeting with all the critical stakeholders of an initiative.
- Get clarity through dialogue on what the team is setting out to do.
- Focus in on the overarching objective, goals, risks involved and expected timeframe.
